I’m a 51 year old computer consultant, keen (do not read good!) cyclist and strong supporter of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. I first signed up to participate in a Help for Heroes Battlefield Bike Ride in 2009 and again in 2010.
In September of 2012 I took part in the Help for Heroes Ride to Recovery – Colchester Bike Ride which raised funds specifically for the newly opened Personnel Recovery Centre. It was great to see the work they do and to be able to speak confidently to others about exactly how H4H use the money that has been donated to them.
In May 2013, I was back in the saddle again, embarking on the Big Battlefield Bike Ride – The Hero Ride, from Paris to London. In June 2014 I persuaded some of my friends to join me in London for the Hero Ride from Blackheath to Horseguards Parade (but we had to cycle to Blackheath first!) In 2015 I cycled 100 miles overnight from Colchester to Windsor and last year journeyed with friends from Cambridge via Duxford to the Imperial War Museum in London.
This blog aims to provide a record of my preparation for each ride as well as a diary of each day spent in the saddle alongside some truly inspirational people.
This blog is only updated when I have something to promote but feel free to pop back every now and then to see where my next great adventure may take me!
